Organize the music collection so that songs can be found easily and quickly. Song titles should be placed into their various genres, such as rock, pop, blues etc. Good karaoke software will categorize songs automatically from the Internet, along with other information such as the album the song came from. Music should be tagged by genre, album, artist, date and any personal categories required. It is also possible to tag songs according to the event, such as a wedding collection.
Create play-lists. Play-lists provide the means to set a schedule of songs and the specified order they are required. Different play-lists can be set up on the fly and for regular use in different gig types. A temporary play-list can be created for each of the singers and this makes sure that everyone gets an equal opportunity to sing.
Print a catalogue. The advantage of creating play-lists is that songs can be listed and sorted into their various types, both for the singing process itself, and the printed list of songs used by people to choose their songs. Once the music collection is organized and play-lists created, the catalogue can be printed off in any suitable order required.
