How to Get the Simmons SD7K to Play MIDI Files

The Simmons SD7K is a full five-piece electronic drum set consisting of pads with synthetic surfaces. This type of drum kit provides an option for apartment dwellers who need to practice with headphones as well as musicians seeking a kit more compact and portable than regular drums. The SD7K comes programmed with 50 MIDI file songs with which you can play along. The songs are in a variety of styles and tempos.

Instructions

      Turn on the drum set by pressing the power switch on the side control panel.

      Adjust the volume to the desired level using the master volume knob on the bottom-left corner of the top control panel.

      Select the song number from the song list included with the drum kit. You can choose from one to 50, with each MIDI file representing different genres of music.

      Press the "Song" button, which is the first of three buttons directly underneath the three-digit LED display. This triggers the song indicator on the display to light up.

      Use the "+" and "-" buttons on the right side of the top control panel until you find the song number of the MIDI file you chose.

      Press the "Start/Stop" button on the top control panel to play the MIDI file.
