How to Upload Music to a CD

Uploading music to a CD allows you to play it in your car CD player, home stereo, portable CD player, DVD player and a variety of other devices. You can upload music to a CD by burning the music to a recordable CD. A standard recordable CD can hold as much as 80 minutes of music. You can upload music to a CD using Windows Media Player or iTunes. Windows Media Player is a free audio software program that comes installed on all Windows computers. ITunes is a free audio software program that comes installed on all Macintosh computers.

  • Computer with CD burner
  • Blank CD-R

Instructions

  1. Windows

      Click the "Start" button, choose "Programs" and click "Windows Media Player."

      Click the tab titled "Burn."

      Drag the music you want to upload to a CD into the "Burn List."

      Place a blank CD-R into your CD burner.

      Click the "Start Burn" button within the "Burn List" and the music will be burned to the CD.

    Macintosh

      Click the "Finder," choose "Applications" and double-click "iTunes."

      Click "File," click "New Playlist" and a new playlist will be appear in the column on the left side of iTunes.

      Drag the music you want to upload to a CD into the new playlist.

      Click the new playlist to view its contents.

    • 10

      Click "Burn Disc" inside of this playlist.

      Click the "Burn" button in the window that appears.

    • 12

      Place a blank CD-R into your CD burner and the music in the playlist will be burned to the CD.
