How to Host Websites With Music Players

Adding a music player to your website is a way to share songs by your favorite artists with visitors. If you are a musician or songwriter, a music player is an essential tool for offering samples of your original music. It isn't necessary to pay a professional Web developer to add streaming audio to your website. Anyone can create a Flash MP3 music player for free and copy/paste the HTML code into his website or blog. Many music services such as last.fm, Pandora and Project Playlist allow the user to share playlists with an embedded widget. Project Playlist is as an example yet all such web Flash players have similar functions and controls.

Instructions

    • 1

Confirm that your website, blog or social network is compatible with Project Playlist's Flash player. Project Playlist works well on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and with most blogs, but is not compatible with others, such as MySpace. Ensure that your website allows both JavaScript and Flash or the player will not work.

    • 2

Sign up for Project Playlist and create your free member account, if you haven't done so already.

    • 3

Click "Create a Playlist" from the main menu. Assign a name to your new playlist and enter a description. Then start adding songs by using the "Search" button and clicking "Add to Playlist" any time you see a song you want to add.

    • 4

Embed your completed playlist onto your website. You may either do this by clicking "Embed Code" at the bottom of the player itself or click the "Share" button on the Project Playlist page.

    • 5

Customize your Flash player. Select a skin or custom background image, and check the "Start Playing Automatically" box if you want the music to start playing without any user interaction. You can choose whether to play the tracks randomly or play them in a specified order.

Click "Get the Code" button to create your custom Flash player. Copy and paste the HTML code Project Playlist gives you into your website, blog, or social network page. If you selected "Start Playing Automatically" during setup, you should hear the music playing next time you refresh the page.
