How to Host a Music Video

Hosting is the act of uploading a file from a computer hard drive to make it accessible and visible on the Internet. All types of multimedia files can be hosted online, including full music videos. Hosting a music video can be quite simple, as it only requires the use of a video hosting site; it's just a matter of transferring the video from your hard drive to the Web for publishing. The publishing action generates a URL address for the music video so it can be used on a specific website, linked and embedded to other websites and shared with users all over the Internet.

Instructions

    • 1

Access a video hosting site in your Internet browser (see Resources.)

    • 2

Click the "Sign-Up," "Create Account," or "Register" action to register for a usage account if the site you select prompts you to. (Some sites may require registration for free use, while others may simply allow you to upload. See Tips for more information.)

    • 3

Scroll through the webpage once it loads, locate the blank data form and click its "Browse" button, which is usually located on its right side.

    • 4

Click your user name folder in the pop-up window that will appear, then select your computer's Videos folder. (This is the standard storage folder for music videos saved to a computer hard drive. If you placed your files elsewhere, simply go to this particular folder to open your music video.) Locate and select the music video file and click "Open."

    • 5

Click the "Upload" button, which will be either above or below the data form where your music video's file location will now be displayed. The browser will redirect and immediately begin hosting the video.

    • 6

Copy the URL address link that will be displayed after the hosting process is complete. This address link is the only way you'll be able to access the music video online.
