Connect your Axiom Pro to any USB port on your computer, and open Logic. The Axiom Pro comes with a driver installation disc, but since Logic is exclusively a Mac OS X program, you should not need it, as OS X detects MIDI devices automatically without a need for external drivers.
Click the "Logic Pro" or "Logic Express" menu (depending on whether you have the full or light software) at the top of your screen, and hover your mouse over the "Preferences" option. From there, select "Key Commands" on the second pop-up menu.
Click the triangle beside "Global Commands," and select any parameter on the list. For example, if you select the "Record" option, you can then assign a "Record" command to your Axiom Pro.
Click the "Learn MIDI" button and the "Learn New Assignment" button. Immediately afterward, press the button on your Axiom Pro to which you want to assign your selected command. For example, if you selected "Record" in Step 3, you can now click the "Record" button on your Axiom (indicated by a blue circle), so that Logic knows to begin a recording session each time you press that button.
Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for each additional parameter that you want to assign. For instance, using the list under "Global Key Commands," you can assign functions like "Play," "Rewind," "Fast Forward," "Zoom In," "Mute," and "Reset." Assign as many parameters as you think you might need.
Close your "Key Commands" window, and open your Logic mixer by clicking "Window" > "Mixer" on the menu bar. Select any parameter on your mixer, such as one of the volume sliders or pan knobs, or open up a virtual synthesizer under the "I/O" menu (on any of the vertical channel strips) to access additional digital music parameters like "Cutoff," "Resonance," "Attack," "Decay," "Sustain," and "Release."
Click "Logic" > "Preferences" > "Control Surfaces" > "Learn Assignment" on your menu bar. A new window will appear. Select your desired parameter (such as "Volume" or "Pan") from the "Parameter" box, and click "Learn Mode." Then immediately begin moving the knob or slider on your axiom to which you want to assign the command. Select new parameters on your Logic mixer, and repeat this step for each additional knob and slider on your Axiom Pro.
