Connect a MIDI cable to the MPC2500's "MIDI Out 1" port, located on the back of the unit, and connect the other end of the cable to the "MIDI In" port on the back of the MPK49.
Connect another MIDI cable to the MPC2500's "MIDI In 1" port and connect the other end to the MPK49's "MIDI Out" port. The basic MIDI connections are now established.

Press the "Scroll Right" button to the right of the MPK49's screen until you arrive at the page titled "MIDI CLK."
Turn the MPK49's "Value" dial until the MIDI clock parameter is set to "Internal." This setting means the MPK49 will generate MIDI clock transmissions, functioning as the MIDI clock master in relation to all downstream MIDI devices with MIDI clock functionality.
Press the "Mode" button on the MPC2500's front panel. Next, press the drum pad labeled "PAD 9." The MPC2500 will enter "MIDI/Sync" mode.
Press the "F2" key on the MPC2500 to call up the "Sync" page.
Use the "Cursor" buttons to navigate to the "Sync In" field on the MPC2500's screen. The device's MIDI inputs are listed in this field. Select "MIDI In 1" and press the "Main" button. The "MIDI In 1" port will be engaged as the MPC2500's MIDI clock input. The screen will return to the main menu automatically. The MPC2500 is now slaved to the MPK49 and all of their functions will work in sync in accordance with the MPK49's MIDI clock transmission.
