Build a website that has detailed information about your Gospel group and include the web address on any promotional items you have, such as fliers, merchandise and CD covers.
Find performance gigs for your Gospel group. Performances provide an ideal spot for gaining new fans and keeping old ones up-to-date. Contact area churches, local music festivals and performance venues to inquire about show dates. Be prepared to send a sample CD or mp3 as well as detailed information on the group, as many venues like to have an idea of a group's style before booking.
Write press releases about your group and send them to media outlets such as local newspapers, Christian music magazines, Gospel music websites and related publications. Press releases should include the basics of your group such as the name, upcoming concert dates, website URL, group history and notable past performances.
Hand out fliers that advertise your Gospel singing group to people who may be interested. For example, if the group is church-based, hand out fliers to church members or place an advertisement in the church newsletter. College campuses are also common areas where music group fliers are passed out. Place a picture of the group along with the name and upcoming concert dates.
Hang fliers in public locations where postings are allowed. Check bookstores, restaurants, libraries, grocery stores and coffee shops to see if they have bulletin boards where you can post fliers.
Use social media. Websites like Facebook and Myspace allow you to set up a free page to promote your Gospel group. Send emails to all of your friends suggesting they become fans or friends of your group on these social networking sites. Post recorded clips so people can hear what your group sounds like.
Hold a joint concert with several other music groups in the area. The other groups will be doing their own promotion to get fans to the show and you'll have the chance to perform in front of others who may not be familiar with your group. You'll have the potential to gain new fans with this type of event.
Set up a table with CDs and other merchandise that promotes your Gospel singing group at any event in which they perform. Give out items if you can afford to do so. People who take home an item will be more likely to remember your group in the future.
