Ask your friends if they can sing. Whether you are forming a singing group for fun or for a career, you never know who may fit with the group. Explain your vision for the group with any of your friends who are able to sing and ask them about their singing style and, more importantly, their singing range, as you will want different ranges within the group.
Go to your local music stores and place advertisements for your singing group on the musicians wanted and available board. Many singers visit these stores for equipment such as microphones and P.A. systems, so they check the board to see who is looking. Include some details about the group and at least one form of contact, such as an email or phone number, so that they can get in touch with you to further investigate the situation.
Place an advertisement on BANDMIX for your group. BANDMIX is a website that allows musicians to search for other musicians for collaboration. It is free to post an advertisement, but you must have a paid membership to respond to advertisements. Include a sample of your singing, a picture and information regarding the direction of the group. Classify your style so that searches can be targeted.
Place an advertisement on Craigslist. Craigslist is a free classifieds website that has a musicians category. Include a link to a YouTube video or website with your advertisement and as much detail as possible. Be careful about adding your phone number or any personal information, and use the anonymous email feature so you do not get spammed. Craigslist also allows you to attach photos as well, so include them if they are relevant.
Post an advertisement through your social media outlets. This will allow your friends to think about anyone they may know who can sing. Most friends will help you out, so the post will allow them to understand what you are looking for and they can search through their friends list and see of any of them sing. Use Facebook or Twitter for the quickest results and ask your friends and followers to repost or retweet the information, if possible.
