Decide on a particular style of rap or vocal music and determine how many singers or rappers you will need. Know what you want your group to be like so that you can write music and find the most suitable group members.
Find members. Put up advertisements in music stores and take out a classified advertisement. Get the word out to friends, friends of friends, singers, rappers and performers in your city that you are looking for group members.
Determine roles when you have recruited members. Decide on a band leader -- if any -- and discuss how to best compose music. Choose at least one person to create the beats or background music, then decide if you will write vocal parts as a group or separately.
Organize a rehearsal space and practice times. Choose at least one or two practice times per week that all group members can attend. Ask local music stores about rehearsal spaces in your town, search online or practice in one of the member's homes if you can practice rapping and singing without disturbing others.
Acquire all the necessary music gear. Determine the type of gear you need, including a sampler, turn tables, microphones, amplifiers, a PA system and a computer with audio software. Rehearsal spaces typically include microphones and a PA system.
Write songs together, including beats, background music and vocals. Spend time developing songs individually and as a group.
Choose a name. Have each member think up a number of names, then vote on names to decide what you will call the group.
Promote the group. Sign up to social media sites and music promotion websites. Send demos to record companies, venues, musicians you like and local promoters.
