How to Draw Courage the Cowardly Dog

"Courage the Cowardly Dog" is an animated television series about a dog and his owners Muriel and Eustace Bagge. The series was created by John R. Dilworth and ran from 1999 to 2002. The setting is in Nowhere, Kansas, which happens to be a hot bed of paranormal activity. Courage has to save the always gentle Muriel and the frequently mean Eustace from danger even though Courage doesn't enjoy living up to his name. As of October 2009, reruns were available at the cartoonnetwork.com site.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw an acorn shape. This will be Courage's head. Draw a long round shape for his nose/snout (we will shape it in step 3). Make a cross shape over the top part of the acorn and a line across the bottom part of the snout (these are the facial guidelines). For the body, draw a peanut shape connecting to the head and snout.

    • 2

Draw two oblong circles for his eyes. Draw two curved thin lines for the eyebrows. They should extend outside his face.

    • 3

Shape his nose by drawing an upside down triangle where his nostrils--nose pad--will be. Erase the line that separates the head and snout. Round up the snout, and add a bit of additional, rounded snout on the right side. Next you want draw his lip, bright smile and the shape of his right cheek. With one thin upward stroke draw a rounded line with a upward curved line on the end.

    • 4

Draw four small lines for his arms. Draw two on the right inner side of his stomach and two on the left inner side of his stomach. The lines should begin half way up his torso. Draw two long lines for his tail. Draw the lines right above the bottom of his torso on his right hand side.

    • 5

Draw two long skinny ears and dots for his pupils. Draw six dots for his whiskers and then three leaf clover shapes for his paws and feet. Finish the tail by making three "V" shapes between each line. Erase the guidelines you drew in step one.
