Funniest TV Shows List

In this frantic, fast-paced world we live in today, everyone needs a laugh from time to time. Sitting down, putting your feet up, and enjoying a humorous television show is a great way to unwind after a long day.
  1. Recent Shows

    • "Modern Family" is a popular show starring Ed 'O Neill, who played Al Bundy on "Married With Children." The plot revolves around a not so typical suburban family, with divorces and remarriages, a gay couple that has adopted a child, an older man married to a young, beautiful woman and a witty stepson.

"How I Met Your Mother" is a commentary on relationships and marriage today that focuses on five main characters, all young professionals in New York City. The characters are anything but stereotypical, and Ted, the main protagonist, is constantly dating women trying to find "the one" so he can get married and settled down.

Even if you are not into science, "The Big Bang Theory" provides a multitude of laughs. The show revolves around four physicists who are completely inept at dating and social situations. Many funny moments occur when these super smart geeks are trying to pick up women or act normal in social situations when clearly they have no idea what they are doing.

There is something for everyone on "The Office," a show that takes place in a world of phones, fax machines and sales pitches. The outlandish characters and inappropriateness of their boss, played by comic actor Steve Carell, are always hilarious. The humor is somewhat dry, but the show has definitely found a way to make the workplace entertaining.

    Funny Shows of the Past

    • "Friends" is a classic show that was on for ten years and eliciting laughs every step of the way. The antics of Ross, Rachel, Joey, Phoebe and Chandler will crack you up, make you cry, and fall in love with these wacky characters and their loyal friendships.

"Frasier" was a show spun off from the comedy "Cheers" and it is just as funny if not funnier than its predecessor. Watch intelligent Dr. Crane fumble through job issues and his love life while managing relationships with his live-in father and buttoned-up brother.

"Seinfeld" is a comedy classic. In Jerry Seinfeld's self-proclaimed show about "nothing," the situations the characters get into are often outlandish and silly, but altogether amusing.

"Arrested Development" was one of those shows that flew under the radar. Its quirky characters and off-beat humor will surely entertain you.

    Funny and Real...Reality Shows

    • Reality shows, although sometimes staged, are usually not without humor. Here are a few, past and present, that are worth checking out.

"The Osbournes" follows hard rocks Prince of Darkness through the mundane aspects of life. It is rife with hilarious moments. Find out what it is really like to be a rock star.

"The Apprentice", the show where Donald Trump is the boss and an odd assortment of stars are the employees, is always good for a laugh. Watching these celebrities performing tasks and trying not to get fired is often funny.

"The Bachelor" offers some of the cheesiest TV there is, which sometimes makes it extremely funny.

Lastly, MTV's "The Real World" is credited as starting the entire reality show trend. Whether you love it or hate it, the early seasons of the show seemed less scripted but were full of drama and interesting people and situations.
