Position a photo of the Joker nearby.
Trace the outline of the Joker's face. Begin in the center of the paper by drawing the outline in the shape of a large, upside down teardrop. Keep the cheek and chin are rounded -- albeit thin -- to give the Joker a chiseled jaw.
Draw a cross in the middle of the face. This cross will mark the center point on the face to keep the eyes, nose and mouth proportioned.
Sketch two short vertical lines -- one on the right and one on the left -- of the horizontal cross bar. These lines will mark where you will draw the eyes. Sketch two short and quick lines 2/3 of the way down the vertical cross bar. These lines mark where you will draw the Joker's mouth.
Draw in the Joker's eyes. Make them sideways teardrop shapes, adding in distinct teardrop points at the end of each eye to give the Joker a villainous look. Trace a jagged, fireball-like outline around each eye. You will color in these outlines later to resemble the Joker's evil face paint.
Trace an outline of the Joker's nose. Begin at center and to the left just below the horizontal cross bar. Trace down and buckle the outline of the nose back up and to the right. The nose shape should resemble a rook chess piece and the bottom of the nose end flush with the top of the short horizontal line 2/3 of the way down the vertical crossbar.
Draw the Joker's mouth. Trace a tiny, horizontal bean pod-like shape at the center point between the vertical crossbar and the short, bottom horizontal mouth line. You will shade in this bean pod shape with a dark color in subsequent steps to add depth to the mouth. Draw two, thin frown lines -- one on the left and one on the right -- that begin at the corners of the bean pod and down toward the chin. Draw a thin -- albeit distinct -- line from the bottom of the frown marking on the left side of the Joker's face up the side of his cheek. This line resembles one of the two infamous slash marks the Joker had on his face.
Draw an outline of the Joker's hair. Swoop a line -- beginning an inch above the top of the skull -- down the right side of his head. Connect the hair outline near the cheek bone with wavy ends -- resembling greasy, unwashed hair. Repeat a similar motion on the left side of the skull -- although keep the outline two to three inches off of the skull and make the hair wavier to add a realistic look.
Draw a thin, wavy line downward from the top left of the forehead. End the line just to the right side of the Joker's left eye. This outline will act as the last strand of hair hanging over the Joker's face.
Color in the Joker's face. Use bold colors, such as: white, red, purple and black. Shade the fireball areas around the eyes with black. Color in the bean pod area with burgundy and complete the lips with a shade of dark red to complete the Joker's demented look. Get creative in the colors you use to add zest and flavor to your drawing.
