How to Find Autographs of Old Movie Stars

From classics like "Casablanca" and "Gone With the Wind" to musicals like "Singin' in the Rain" and "The Wizard of Oz," movies from the early era of film are still relevant today. Famous movie actors popular during the heyday of film include Gregory Peck, Humphrey Bogart, Audrey Hepburn and Rita Hayworth. Even though most of the early stars are no longer alive, their legacy continues through their movies and memorabilia. This memorabilia includes autographs, which may be purchased through several outlets.

Instructions

    • 1

Check out the Universal Autograph Collectors Club (UACC) online. This nonprofit club strives to educate the novice autograph collector and lists legitimate autograph dealers near you.

    • 2

Browse through the dealers by clicking on "Dealer Pages" located on the right hand side of the UACC website. A new window will come up with a list of sponsored UACC dealers.

    • 3

Look for a celebrity memorabilia store, an antique store or a pawn shop in your area. Call the store first to ask if there are any older movie star autographs for sale. Ask the price, if the signatures are original and authentic, and if there is a money-back guarantee or certificate of authenticity.

    • 4

Find a legitimate selling website for memorabilia or search on the Internet. Type in "old movie star autographs" or "early movie autographs" to search for sites. Type in the specific name of the movie star whose autograph you are seeking.

Look over each item carefully to ensure it is the real thing. Check for key words like "authentic" and "original" when purchasing autographs.
