How to Enable a Caption on Netflix

While listening to movies and TV shows can enhance your viewing pleasure, you may need to turn on captions or subtitles at certain times, especially if you have difficulty hearing or do not want to wake others. Netflix's streaming service offers subtitles for certain films and shows, allowing you to enable captions either before your selected title begins or as it is playing. Netflix does not include the option to turn on subtitles for all movies and TV shows.

Instructions

      Sign in to your Netflix account on the PC on a Netflix device, such as a game console. Search for a movie or TV show you wish to watch by entering its title. Alternatively, you can also choose a show or movie from various categories, such as "recently watched" or "genres."

      Click "Audio and Subtitles" once you select the title, if you are watching on a Netflix device. Scroll down to and select "English." The subtitles will appear when the movie begins.

      Click "Play," if you're using a PC. Click "Subtitles" once the movie or show begins. A box will pop up. Click "English" to enable captions.
