Movie Theaters in Muncie, Indiana

Muncie, Indiana is a relatively small city in Delaware County. Muncie is the home of Ball State University, and has a population of just under 68,000. Muncie itself has two AMC-owned multiplex movie houses. The nearby city of New Castle has a two more theater options.
  1. AMC Showplace 7

    • Located at 3401 W. Community Drive, the Showplace 7 shows first-run, newly released Hollywood films. Owned and operated by AMC Movie Theatres, this venue has seven full-size screens and amenities digital surround sound, stadium seating, online ticketing and traditional concessions (popcorn, soft drinks, and packaged sweets). Listening devices and wheelchair access are also available. As of 2011, ticket prices for evening screenings are $10 or $7.50 for children (2 to 12 years). The matinee price (before 6 p.m.) is $7.50. As of 2011, the theater did not have any 3-D screens.

    AMC Showplace 12

    • The AMC Showplace 12 offers patrons first-run films, 3-D screen capability, stadium seating, online ticketing and standard concession fare. Listening devices and wheelchair access are available for disabled moviegoers. As of 2011, ticket prices for showings after 6 p.m. are $10 for adults and $7.50 for children (2 to 12 years). The matinee price (before 6 p.m.) is $7.50. An extra fee of $3 is applied to tickets for all 3-D screenings. Showplace 12 is located at 860 E. Princeton Ave.

    The Castle Theater

    • Roughly 15 miles south of Muncie lies the independently owned and operated Castle Theater. The Castle at 221 S. Main St. in New Castle, Indiana, houses a single, non 3-D screen and shows first-run films. Traditional concession fare is available, and the building is wheelchair accessible. As of 2011, tickets cost $7, or $5 for seniors and children under 12. A flat rate of $5 applied to any showing before 6 p.m.

    Skyvue Drive-In Theatre

    • The Skyvue Drive-In Theatre at 1126 W. County Road 500 South in New Castle, Indiana is about 25 miles from Muncie. As of 2010, it was one of the few drive-ins left in this part of Indiana. Like most drive-ins, the Skyvue opens in the early spring and closes in the fall. Patrons must bring a working radio as movie audio is provided through a clear FM radio channel. Concessions include pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, cotton candy and ice cream. Tickets cost $7, or $4 for children 5 to 12. It's free for children 4 and under.
