Twist the knob on the tripod leg assembly counterclockwise to release it, and spread the feet out to provide a steady base. Twist the boom clamp clockwise onto the threads on the top of the stand. Tighten the clamp by hand snugly.
Twist the extension knobs on the extension clamps counterclockwise on the boom to loosen them. You will see one or two knobs, depending on the length of the boom. Extend the boom to the desired length, leaving enough on the bottom end to support a counterweight for proper balance.
Twist the release knob on the side of the clamp to open the cradle enough to fit the bar of the Promaster light boom into the clamp. Fit the boom into the clamp. Tighten the knob on the stand clamp to grip the boom firmly so it will not slide.
Attach the light and counterweight to the ends of the boom. The light will attach to the pipe with a clamp on the bottom of the light. It will either have a hand twist knob or a bolt you must tighten with a wrench, depending on the light. Fit the clamp around the pipe so the light points down. Tighten the clamp to hold the light in place.
Hang the counterweight from the opposite end of the boom. A counterweight will typically clip to a ring at the end of the boom with a carabiner-style clip.
Twist the knobs on the height adjustment clamps, and slide the stand pole up to the desired height. You should see two clamps -- one above the other on the upright of the stand. The lower clamp allows the thicker, lower portion of the stand to extend, and upper clamp controls the upper smaller piece. Release and extend the lower, thicker section first, then the upper as required for the desired height. Tighten the clamps by turning the knobs clockwise by hand.
Adjust the angle of the boom by turning the knob on the boom clamp at the top of the stand that controls the pivot motion of the clamp. Turn it counterclockwise to loosen it. Tilt the boom as desired, and turn the clamp clockwise to lock it back into place.
