Why is Jim Davis famous?

Jim Davis is famous for being the creator of the comic strip Garfield. First published in 1978, Garfield follows the daily lives of Garfield, a lasagna-loving orange tabby cat, his owner, Jon Arbuckle, and Jon's dog, Odie.

The strip quickly gained popularity and reached over 2500 newspapers in 85 countries. It was also adapted into several animated television series, films, video games, and other merchandise.

Davis's work on Garfield has earned him numerous awards and accolades, including the Reuben Award for Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year in 1982 and 1990. In 1997, he was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame.

Garfield is one of the most successful comic strips of all time, and Davis's work has had a significant impact on popular culture.
