Cool Magic Card & Coin Tricks Revealed

Magic coin tricks are common and easy-to-learn magic tricks. This makes them a favorite for recreational magicians. With a few days of practice these tricks become real, and it appears as if the coins are actually disappearing and reappearing at the will of the masterful illusionist. Effective sleight of hand is all that is required to form an alternate reality where anything can happen...the reality of magic.
  1. Backpalming

    • Backpalming is a fairly simple trick in which the magician holds a coin in between his fingers to create an illusion. When this technique is correctly executed the magician appears to be pulling coins out of thin air. He then puts the coin into a hat, puts his empty hand back into the air, and pulls another coin out of the air. This cycle can go on forever if executed correctly.

    Performing the Trick

    • First, grab a larger coin such as a silver dollar. Practice holding the coin flat against the palm side of your fingers, held between your pointer finger and your pinky finger. Make sure your hand looks naturally straight, by looking in a mirror to help ensure you can believe your own trick. Now practice holding the coin in the same way, but on the back of your hand.

    Sliding the Coin

    • To give the coin the illusion of disappearing and reappearing, you are going to slide the coin from the front to the back and vice versa. To slide the coin from the back to the front, pinch the coin between your thumb, middle and ring fingers. Using your thumb, slide the coin to the back of your hand, and then hold it using the technique above for holding the coin on the back side of your hand. To go from the back to the front, simply reverse these steps. When you reveal the coin, make sure you are pinching it with your thumb, middle and ring fingers, as this position will allow you to direct the coin to either the front or the back. You will drop the coin numerous times when transitioning to the back from the front, so practice is necessary. Do not become upset; magic tricks are nothing but an action practiced to perfection.
