Basic Waltz Dance Steps
The waltz is a two-person ballroom dance based on a simple box step. Traditionally, the waltz is danced in 3/4 time. When creating the box pattern, the dancer uses three counts of slow, quick, quick. These counts are repeated three times to complete the box pattern. Keep in mind that when dancing the waltz, there is a leader and a follower. Traditionally, the man leads the dance and the woman follows. Either way, one person should be designated as the leader and one person should be designated as the follower before starting the waltz.
