Play some hip-hop music and practice bouncing, rocking from your toes to the heels, to the music. This will help you develop your musicality and feel the inner rhythm of the music, vital to being able to decipher and perform the musical highs and lows.
Incorporate simple popping and locking into your bouncing. Extend your arms out and instead of bouncing to the beats, bring a ticking rhythm into your body to the same beats.
Pop your extremities in sequence, traveling from the fingertips of your left hand to the finger tips of your right hand, separating out each joint. Pop your fingers on your left hand, then your wrist, then your elbow and forearm, then your shoulder and finally your chest, keeping with the rhythm of the music. Be sure to isolate each movement, for example, when you pop your wrist out, your fingers and arms remain still.
Send the ticking down the other arm once you reach your chest by popping your right shoulder, then elbow and forearm, then wrist and ending with the fingers.
Return to the simple bounce to prepare for the next move. Once you feel comfortable with the music and have caught your breath, swing your arms toward the ground and kick your legs up to transition into a hand stand.
Arch your feet back over your head by bending at the knee at a sharp right angle. Pause like this for a beat or two. Snap your feet back, creating a burst of momentum that allows you to spring back off your hands and transition back to standing with your feet at the ground.
Return to bouncing with the music, adding a further accent by popping your hips and buttocks out with music as well, alternating side to side or front to back.
