How to Dance to Hip-Hop Videos

Hip-hop videos encompass a wide array of music genres and cultural influences, including rap, blues, jazz, rhythm and blues, and pop. Hip-hop videos contain high energy, improvised dance and excessive sexuality. Sexuality is a constant theme throughout hip-hop music videos. Typically, video vixens perform hip-hop dance routines for male music artists. Male hip-hop artists often perform a simple two-step move while back-up dancers do the more energized dance routines.

Instructions

    • 1

Find your rhythm. Move or bob your head to the beat to find your groove and rhythm. Clap your hands with every beat.

    • 2

Perform the "Dougie" dance to any hip-hop video, which is a dance created by Doug E. Fresh, the rap artist.

    • 3

Bend your knees slightly. Keep your feet at least a foot apart. Rock your hips from side to side. Run your right hand over your head slowly. Run your left hand over your head slowly.

    • 4

Improvise with your own dance move. Move your shoulders while you rock from side to side. Place one hand in the air, giving a peace sign.

    • 5

Use the "crumping" style dance to very high-energy hip-hop videos, which is a dance popularized by Chris Brown. Extend your arms out in front of your body.

    • 6

Bend your knees. Thrust your chest out. Bring your chest back in. Rotate your arms back and forth, matching your chest movements.
