How to Learn the Cupid Happy Dance

The "Happy Dance" is a 2008 song and dance popularized by R&B artist Bryson Bernard, aka Cupid. Sometimes confused with the "Cupid Shuffle," the dance is easy to learn and consists of only a few repetitive steps. Not surprisingly, the "Happy Dance" is an upbeat, family-friendly tune. According to the "Happy Dance" instructional video, the "Happy Dance" is "more than a dance, it's a state of mind as well."

Instructions

    • 1

Do a double step move. Raise one foot and put it down, raise the same foot again and put it down again. Repeat this action with the opposite foot. Count "1, 2, 1, 2" while doing this step with each foot.

    • 2

Sway back and forth slightly while performing the double step. Once you get comfortable with this step, you can add arm movements.

    • 3

Bend your arms slightly at the elbows and form fists with both hands. Hold one hand out in front of your body while simultaneously crossing your other arm over your chest. Cross with one arm, then switch to the other arm, counting "1, 2, 1, 2."

    • 4

Do the double step and the arm cross together once you are comfortable with both movements. Your crossing arm should be on the same side as the stepping foot.

    • 5

Perform this dance to the rhythm of the "Happy Dance" song. Bounce in time to the music as you do the double step and arm cross.
