Watch the "Footloose" movie several times and pay careful attention to Kevin Bacon's moves. This 1984 film stars Kevin Bacon as a rebel who is new to a town that has banned dancing and rock and roll. The much-loved dance scene takes place in a warehouse to the film's theme song, recorded by Kenny Loggins. (See Resources for a direct link to listen to the song.)
Call a few local dance studios and ask them if they offer lessons for the "Footloose" dance. If you can not afford this option, ask if you can just watch a lesson to get some tips. Watch the lead dancers very closely.
Practice the moves, one at a time, until you master them. Once you master a move then move to the next one. Memorize the sequence of the steps and how they synchronize with the music.
Rent or buy a DVD that teaches the "Footloose" steps. There are very specific moves for this particular dance.
