Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and with your arms stretched out at shoulder level.
Start a rolling wave-pop with the left hand. Curl the left finger tips and travel the wave or curl through the left wrist, elbow and shoulder.
Isolate each portion of the arm by moving only one joint at a time. Curl the fingers, but do not move the hand, wrist, arm or shoulder until the fingers are through rolling, and so on with each following element. This gives the wave a sharp look, or pop, essential to freestyle dancing.
Repeat the sequence down the right arm once the wave reaches the chest area. Begin by rolling the shoulder, remembering to isolate each small movement, then progress down the arm, elbow, wrist, hand and fingertips.
Send the wave back to the starting point once it reaches the fingertips of the opposite hand. Mastering body isolation will be a core element to mastering freestyle dancing.
