How to Dance the Cha Cha Slide

DJ Casper wrote the song "The Cha Cha Slide" in 1998. The song quickly took off as a favorite played at weddings, parties and sporting events. In 2004, "The Cha Cha Slide" reached #1 on the UK charts and later went gold. The group line dance to accompany hit song is fun, funky and both easy to do and customize. There are a few basic steps to know, such as the grapevine and a square pattern taken from the song's namesake, the cha cha.

Instructions

    • 1

Grapevine to the left. Step to the left with your left foot. Step to the left with your right foot, crossing it over your left foot. Step to the left with your left foot. Put your right foot next to your left foot.

    • 2

Take three steps back. Start with either foot, and once you have stepped back three times, tap the other foot next to your starting foot.

    • 3

Hop forward one time and land on both feet.

    • 4

Stomp the right foot and then the left foot.

    • 5

Cha cha square. Cross your right foot over your left foot. Use your left foot to step back. Bring your right foot to the right, so there is a foot or two between your two feet. Put your left foot forward and step on it.

    • 6

Turn 25 degrees (1/4 turn) to the left.

    • 7

      Grapevine to the right.

    • 8
