River Stomp Dance Steps

The River County Band did a wonderful song called "We're All Here" that inspired a fun line dance called the River County Stomp. The dance was choreographed by Barry Amato, and it is one of those line dances that's fun to both learn and do, over and over, with lots of people on the dance floor.
  1. Move Forward

    • Stand in a line with other dancers facing the center of the room. Step forward and a little to the side with your left foot. Step forward with your right foot and place it behind your left. Step forward again with your left foot then step forward and to the right with your right foot. Step forward with your left foot and place it behind your right. Step forward with your right foot, and as you keep your weight centered on your right foot, stomp your left foot twice on the ground.

    Step and Turn

    • Step forward and to the left with your left foot. Step forward with your right foot and place it behind your left. Step forward with your left foot and pause a beat. Let your weight go back onto your right foot, but do not lift your left foot from the ground. Let your weight go forward onto the left foot. Pivot to the right on your left foot so that you are facing the back of the room. Step forward with your right foot and pause.

    Foward and Stomp

    • Step forward and to the left with your left foot. Step forward and to the left with your right foot and place it behind your left. Step over to the left with your left foot. Keep your weight on your left foot and stomp twice with your right foot. Step to the right with your right foot. Step to the right with your left foot and place it behind your right. Step over to the right with your right foot and stomp your left foot twice while keeping your weight on your right foot.

    Together and Turn

    • Place your left foot beside your right. Pick up your right foot and stomp it on the ground in front of you. Place your right foot beside your left. Step backward with your left foot and step back with your right, placing it beside your left. Step forward on your left foot and pivot to the right on your left foot, until you are facing the front of the room. Let your weight settle on your right foot. Start the Rover County Stomp over, beginning with Section 1 and continue through all the steps.
