Dance Clubs in Marseille, France

In addition to being the second most populous city in France after Paris, Marseille is also the oldest. Perhaps most famous for its Mediterranean port, Marseille is also known as the epicenter of French hip-hop music--which should perhaps make it unsurprising that when it comes to dance clubs, Marseille offers some of the best nights out to be had in France outside of the capital.

  1. Metal Cafe

    • The Metal Cafe enjoys a reputation as one of the city's hottest night spots. Catering to the artistic crowd and located close the the harbor, Metal Cafe is one of the most exclusive clubs in Marseille. If you are fortunate enough to get in, you can enjoy an evening mingling with the hip, young, and beautiful while world-class DJs drop sophisticated techno beats. Metal Cafe has a full bar and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 p.m. onward.

    Le Trolley Bus

    • The DJs at Le Trolley Bus are known for playing an intriguing and eclectic mix of hip-hop, techno, house, jazz, and salsa. Other nights are more centered on contemporary indie music mixed with retro new wave and punk. Although Le Trolley Bus will occasionally feature live music, it is known mostly as a dance club. Along with the usual beer and cocktails one expects to find in a club, Le Trolley Bus also features a whiskey bar and a wine cellar. Check the website for the most current calender of events.

    Le Paradisio

    • Le Paradisio is a high-fashion nightclub located in a Marseille suburb. A favorite gathering place for the young and hip, Le Paradisio specializes in providing a throbbing techno and house soundtrack that keeps the crowd moving til dawn. Although the crowd tends to be hip and trendy, Paradisio has a friendly atmosphere, and the excitement and energy of the crowd can be quite infectious. Le Paradisio has a full bar and is open from 10 p.m. until the sun comes up.

    Le New Orleans

    • Le New Orleans is a friendly club overlooking the old port. Themes at Le New Orleans vary on different nights and can range from disco to salsa. On occasion the club even has karaoke evenings. The order of the day at Le New Orleans, though, is dancing, and many nights even culminate in dance competitions open to anyone in attendance. Le New Orleans has a full bar and is open at 9 p.m. on most nights.
