How to Twirl Pasties

One of the most classic and memorable moves in the art of burlesque is the pastie twirl. This traditional move employs two small cup-shaped, tasseled pieces of fabric or plastic that are worn over the nipples and twirled by their wearer. Though it may look complicated, almost anybody can do it with a little practice. Whether you're hoping to put on a burlesque show or just looking for a little exercise, the pastie twirl is indispensable.

Instructions

    • 1

Adhere the pasties to your nipples using the spirit gum. Spirit gum is an adhesive commonly used to attach fake facial hair for theatrical performances.

    • 2

Once the pasties are securely attached, you're ready to begin twirling. Start by putting your arms up in the air.

    • 3

Using very quick, small motions, bend your knees up and down. It's very important to move with a regular rhythm in order to keep the pasties twirling rather than flopping about.

    • 4

Try different variations. For example, holding only one arm up will get the pasties to twirl in the same direction. To get them to spin the other way, simply switch arms.

    • 5

Walk while twirling your pasties. This will take some practice to coordinate the knee-bends with your gait without looking silly, but it can be done.
