Lesbian Dance Clubs in NYC

There are several lesbian dance clubs in New York City. Most are located in downtown Manhattan, south of 14th Street. One popular neighborhood for lesbian clubs is the West Village. There are also clubs in Williamsburg, Brooklyn that cater to a mixed LGBT crowd for both men and women. These spots tend to be mellower bars on weekday nights, but transform into hopping dance clubs on the weekends.
  1. Henrietta Hudson

    • Henrietta Hudson is one of the oldest, wildest and most popular lesbian dance clubs in New York City. A West Village institution, Henrietta Hudson throws weekly parties dedicated to crowd-pleasing fun like Rock Band competitions, karaoke, singles nights, and DJs who play old-school 70s, 80s, and 90s rock. Look for popular old-school hip hop and r&b nights, too. Pool tables and mod furniture create a friendly, flirty atmosphere in which to hit the dance floor. Dress code is casual during the day and dressy casual at night. No baseball caps, tight skullies, headbands or do-rags Wednesday-Saturday. If you go on your birthday, you'll get 15 minutes of fame in the dance cage, along with free shots and champagne.

    Sugarland

    • Sugarland is a dance club for both lesbians and gay men. It's in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, just north of the L train Bedford Avenue stop. The bar offers good drink specials, karaoke, amateur drag nights, and go-go dancers. Ask the bartender what drink specials are happening when you go: they often offer discounts like $1 shots, $3 Miller Hi-Lifes, and two-for-one beer and well drinks 4-9 pm Saturdays. There is a secluded outdoor patio upstairs for smokers. Call ahead to find out when the lesbian nights are on, but pink ladies are always welcome.

    Cubby Hole

    • A West Village ladies' staple, Cubby Hole features daily drink specials like $2 margaritas and $4 pink ladies. This cozy, lively space can get very crowded very quickly, and hit the ATM before you go: it is cash only. The bar has a mixed crowd, so bring your straight friends. Certain drinks are always on special, like the rum lime ricky made from rum, soda, lemon mix, and lime juice for $3. Dancing extends to Sunday brunch here, with even more drink specials and pop music.
