How to Do the Uprocking Move in Breakdancing

Uprocking is the process that incorporates upper body moves with footwork to create your own unique style of breakdance. Uprocking is not a specific set of steps; rather, it's a group of typical breakdance moves that you put together in the sequence of your choice.

Instructions

  1. The Hand Glide

    • 1

Get down on your hands and knees.

    • 2

Put the elbow of your dominant hand on the hip of your dominant side.

    • 3

Lift your knees off of the ground, balancing on your dominant hand. Practice until you can comfortably balance your body weight before you attempt to spin.

    • 4

Use your non-dominant hand to spin while you're balanced on your dominant hand.

    Top Rock

    • 5

Start by standing upright. Step forward and across your left side with your right foot at the same time you throw your arms back. Hop onto your right foot while kicking your left leg up behind you.

    • 6

Bring your left foot out in front of your body. Hop onto your left foot while you bring your arms in front of you and kick your right foot straight out in front of your body.

    • 7

Put your right foot out and across your left side and throw your arms behind you. Jump onto your left leg while kicking your right leg up behind you.

    • 8

Move your right leg out in front of your body. Hop onto your right leg as you bring your arms in front of you. Kick your left leg straight out in front of you.

    The Flip

    • 9

Begin in a standing position, then drop forward so your hands are on the floor in front of your body.

    • 10

      Swing your legs forward.

    • 11

Lift each hand one at a time to allow your legs travel around in front of you and back to their original position. You do not need to be fully airborne at any time during this move unless you want to be.
