Write out your paraphrased sentence or paragraph. Be sure not to use an exact quote, as paraphrasing is a summary of their topic in your own words.
Place your cursor just after where you mention the name of the author or publication. For instance, if the sections starts off "Miss Moore suggests that automotive vehicles…", place your cursor after "Moore."
Add the year of the publication in parentheses. Although not required, it's also helpful to add the page number where you found your information in the publication. The sentence should now start "Miss Moore (2010, p. 75) suggests that automotive vehicles…"
Write your paraphrased section, ensuring that you do not include direct quotations. Don't bother mentioning the author or publication directly in the passage.
Place your cursor just before the final punctuation at the end of the paraphrased section.
Add the last name of the author or shortened name of the publication in parentheses. Also add the date of publication and, if available, the page number on which you found your information. The paraphrased portion should end like this: "…that automotive vehicles are found to be hazardous (Moore, 2010, p. 75)."
