Write the editor's name. This, along with the other information needed in the citation, can be found on a single page, most likely the second or third page of the book. The last name goes first, followed by the initial of the first name, and end it with a period. It will look like this: Doe, J.
Next, write the year the dictionary was published in parentheses, followed by a period. It will look like this: (2009).
In italics, write the name of the dictionary. Then, in parentheses, write the page number, edition and the volume. If not citing a specific definition, just write the edition and volume. It will look like this: Webster's Dictionary (1st Ed., Vol 1).
Write the location where the dictionary was published. Write a colon and follow it with the name of the publishing company. It will look like this: City, State: Publisher.
Now look over the citation. If you couldn't fit the entire citation on one line, make sure to double space and to indent the second line. The final citation should look like this: Doe, J. (2009). Dictionary (Edition, Volume). Place Published:Publisher.
