How to Replace One Volume of the World Book Encyclopedia

World Book Inc. began publishing reference materials in 1917. Since then, it has expanded into digital versions of the World Book Encyclopedia, as well as still providing hard copies for home and school use. If you have a World Book Encyclopedia older than 2004, the only way to replace a single volume is to locate a third-party used book seller. However, for World Book Encyclopedias printed since 2004, the company retains copies that can be purchased as sets or single volumes.

Instructions

    • 1

Write down the copyright date and ISBN number of the World Book Encyclopedia you own. This information can be found after the title page on any volume. Also write down the volume number you are missing.

    • 2

Contact a World Book customer service sales representative by calling 1-800-338-8382. World Book does not offer single volume purchases online. The representative has to verify the availability of the particular volume.

    • 3

Pay for the volume over the phone. Replacement volumes, when available, are $50 (as of March 2011) regardless of publication year. Payment by credit or debit card is taken over the phone before the replacement volume ships.
