How to Calculate the Volume of a Grandstand
A grandstand is a series of seats for spectators at an event. Today, many grandstands are built inside stadiums, though you can have a grandstand that is not enclosed and simply sits at the side of a field or event location. To calculate the volume of a grandstand, you need to know the required volume formulas and the measurements of the grandstand you are evaluating. You may need to think abstractly, dividing a grandstand into shapes you can then use to calculate volume.

1
Sketch the grandstand on your paper, giving you a model you can then divide into recognizable shapes as needed.
-
2
Divide the drawing into long rectangles so you can calculate the volume of each rectangle individually.
-
-
3
Measure each "rectangle" so you have the length, width and height of each section.
-
4
Multiply the length by the width by the height of each section to give you the volume. Repeat for each rectangular section of the grandstand.

5
Add all of your volume calculations from the previous step to get the total volume of the grandstand.
