Clean the press rollers with a cotton rag soaked with acetone. Roll the rollers slowly as you wipe away ink residual. Pay attention to cracks and crevices. You will no longer use ink with the rollers, so eliminating it now will prevent ink blotches on your printing projects.
Remove lettering plates by releasing the press handle and sliding the plates free. As with the ink, you will no longer need letter sets for your printing.
Install two UV lights, one on either side of the press rollers. Select a location within 6 inches of the horizontal rollers. Center the lights by measuring the width of the light and the rollers and placing a pencil mark at that point. Align the UV light center mark with the roller mark, and pre-drill three holes through the light plate and into the press housing.
Insert three metal screws through the UV light plate and into the press housing. Place a single circuit switch on the side of the press. Mount the switch at eye level, connecting it to the press housing with metal screws. Splice the electrical wires of the two lights together and connect them to the switch.
Turn on the UV lights, allowing them to warm for five minutes. Slowly turn the press wheel to ensure that it is fully exposed to the UV light. Make a test run by sending a printing project through the press along with a UV template. If the image does not transfer dark enough, move the lights closer, 2 inches at a time.
