Start your anime boy by drawing a simple, round circle in the upper one-third of your page.
Add a half-octagon shape to the bottom of your circle. For boys, this should end in a sharp point to denote masculine energy typically found in male anime characters.
Erase the bottom of your circle, until the edges meet the boundaries of the half-octagon. Now, your face shape is completely outlined.
Draw a vertical and horizontal line directly across the center of the face, dissecting it both ways equally. It should look like your boy's face has a cross through it. These will be the guidelines from which the rest of the face will be formed.
Place large, open circles for eyes across the top half of your horizontal line, with eyebrows placed evenly above each eye. The more arched the eyebrows, the more emotion you can show in your boy's face. Also, be sure to avoid too much accentuation of eyelashes, as this can make your character look overly feminine.
Draw a dot for a nose just below the intersection of your vertical and horizontal guidelines. Then, add a slit just below this for the mouth placement, which should fall closer to the end part of the chin.
Add two lines on either side of the chin to create a neck. These lines don't have to be perfect and can slope inwards at the center just slightly.
Incorporate hair into your boy's look. This hair can be wide and spiky, or small and close-cut. All hair, though, should be drawn thin at the top and thicker at the base to create an exaggerated anime look.
Add clothing, such as a samurai, fighter or martial arts expert clothing, as these are common anime boys to draw. Don't forget to accessorize your boy with knives, swords or even sports items.
