Draw a rough triangle shape for your anime character's face. The single point of the triangle should face down to represent the chin area of the face. These points will be rounded out as you develop the face, but for now the triangle is a guide.
Draw two large circles for eyes. Anime characters typically have large, expressive eyes. Keep with this theme, even for scary anime. Draw a smaller circle in each of these larger circles for irises. Draw a sharply arched line over each eye rather than the typical eyelashes.
Draw the hair on your anime. Begin at the upper-left point of the triangle shape and draw the hair toward the top of the page, keeping the lines sharp and creating hair that looks similar to the flames of a fire. Erase the lower point of the face (the chin area) and round it just slightly.
Draw a line in the center between the eyes and beginning just below them. Bring the line down vertically, toward the chin. As you reach just above where you will draw the mouth, add a sharp, outward point to form the end of the nose.
Draw the mouth. Begin with a horizontal line below the nose. Curve the end of each line upward. Begin a second line at the left corner where you began the curved upper line and extend the line down toward the chin. Bring the curve away from the upper line to create some space for the open mouth, then bring it up toward the other end of the upper line and connect it. Draw some sharp, curved teeth inside the mouth to give your anime an evil effect.
Apply pencil shading beneath the eyes and along the cheeks. This will darken the appearance of the anime and help create a sinister look. Add two or three jagged lines in each eye to give them a bloodshot appearance. Color over the shading to enhance the scary elements. Black color pencil on the shadows and red around the rim of the eyes can help bring out the sinister look.
