Instructions

  1. Create the Ideal Anime Cat

    • 1

Draw a circle in the center of your sketch pad page. It should be imperfect, with a gentle point at the bottom.

    • 2

Draw a vertical line down the center of the circle, dissecting the cat's face perfectly in half.

    • 3

Add a horizontal line across the bottom one-third of your cat's face. This will be the guideline for your facial features.

    • 4

Place two triangles, one inside the other, on either side of the top of your cat's face to create ears. The triangle on the outside should be one-fourth larger than the inside triangle.

    • 5

Create a tuft of hair using jagged lines that cover the top one-third of the cat's face and extend one-third above the top of the face circle. The width of the hair tuft should fit between the two ears.

    • 6

Draw two large, circular eyes just above your horizontal guideline and just below the tuft of hair. These eyes should be filled in with 90 percent black, leaving white spaces on the left 10 percent and small dots in the right corners for the pupils.

    • 7

Sculpt a nose by adding a small circle directly dissected by the vertical guideline below the eyes. Just below, place two half-circle shapes on either side of the vertical guideline to make a mouth.

    • 8

Add two sideways triangles on each side of your cat's face just above and below the eyes to create tabby stripes.

    • 9

Erase your guidelines carefully, making sure you don't lose any of your features.

    • 10

Make a large oval body with four circles placed evenly for four paws.

    • 11

Delineate three sections on each of the paws for toes. You can add claws at this point, as well as two horizontal lines (depending on your cat's position) for each limb.

    • 12

Add more stripes to your cat's body using sideways triangles as you see fit. Typically, three to four per side is adequate.

    • 13

Connect your limbs to the appropriate paws. Fill in detail as you see fit to finish your cat and repeat to make multiple cats.
