Nashville Book Clubs

The Nashville area offers a plethora of book clubs to meet the needs of a variety of readers. Everyone from fans of the current bestsellers to those devoted to the classic and all those in between can find a book group dedicated to their genre of choice. Most clubs meet once a week in various locations and rely on suggestions from the members on books to be read and discussed.

    • Books stimulate intelligent conversation.

      The group reads memoir and non-fiction books that stimulate discussions regarding the world's religions, politics, cultures and stimuli for social change. The group's goal is to increase awareness of the world and people. The group was founded on September 14, 2008 and has 211 members as of May 2010. Book discussions include "Little Bee" by Chris Cleave, "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" by Stieg Larsson and "The Virtue of Selfishness" by Ayn Rand.

    Nashville Science Fiction Book Club

    • Science fiction books explore new technology.

      The Nashville Science Fiction Book Club meets each Wednesday at various locations. Members have a common interest in the science fiction genre and read one book per month. Founded on May 6, 2009, the club has 54 members as of May 2010 who enjoy talking about science fiction books, movies, television and technology. Book discussions include "Fire Star" by Chris D'Lacey, "War Surf" by M. M. Buckner and "All Tomorrow's Parties" by William Gibson.

    I Read Dead People

    • The classics entertain and educate readers.

      This book club is dedicated to reading and discussing classic literature. Discussions involve understanding why the works have remained popular through the years and the study of movies and plays based upon them. The group was founded on March 9, 2009 and consists of 102 members as of May 2010. Book discussions include "The Death of Ivan Ilyich" by Leo Tolstoy, "Agape Agape" by William Gaddis and "Sons and Lovers" by D. H. Lawrence.

    Hendersonville/Nashville Twilight Saga Group for Teens & Moms

    • Kids who love to read enjoy learning.

      This group was founded by a mother and her daughter on October 19, 2009. The group discusses all books in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga including "Twilight", "New Moon", "Eclipse", "Breaking Dawn" and the online book, "Midnight Sun". Members read 4 chapters each week and participate in activities such as dressing like one of the characters, presenting an interesting fact about the author, trivia and board games. As of May 2010 the group had fifteen members meeting at various locations between Hendersonville and Nashville.

    Cane Ridge and Surrounding Areas Book Club

    • Reading exercises the mind and imagination.

      This book club meets once a month and select books via a nomination and voting process a month prior to the discussion. In addition, members attend movies and plays based upon books read. Founded on July 8, 2009, the group consists of 71 members as of May 2010. Book discussions include "Chasing Fireflies" by Charles Martin, "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett and "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult.
