Go to "Start" and choose the word processing application on your computer. Once you do this, go to the toolbar and click on "Page Layout." Change the margin settings to 1 inch per page. Moreover, add page numbers by going to the toolbar again and choosing the "Insert" and "Page Number" options.
Take into account the plot, the characters' development and the dialogue, which has to be consistent. Do not overwhelm your manuscript with useless metaphors or filler information. Publishers don't find this attractive at all. Leave a double space between each line, since it is easier for editors to read and edit.
Write with 12-point type font. Title each page, so that the publisher will know where they are. Do not use pictures. Editors consider these as signs of an amateur writer. Do not write numbers in their numerical form of "3" or "8," but as "three," "eight." Do not use currency signs, but write them instead. Write "Dollar" instead of "$."
Print your manuscript and make photocopies once you finish writing. Don't make double-sided copies, since this is almost unreadable and practically uncomfortable for publishers.
Use a rubber band to put all of the copies together. Don't bind them.
Create the cover page. The cover page must have not only the name of your book, but your personal information as well. You should add your name (the author's name), mailing address, email address, phone number and a copyright date.
