How to Make a Master Chief Mask Out of Paper Mache

Master Chief, the main character in many of Microsoft's "Halo" video games, is a high-ranking soldier in the United Nations Space Command. He rarely speaks and always gets the job done. If you want to build his classic green helmet, you can do so out of paper mache. Paper mache is cheap and easy to use, which means that anyone can do this at home.

Instructions

    • 1

Find high-quality pictures of Master Chief's helmet. He is a commonly known video game character whose picture has adorned many magazine covers and posters.

    • 2

Clean a large work surface away from valuable pieces of furniture. Making paper is messy.

    • 3

Pour equal parts of water and flour into a large bowl. Thoroughly mix it with your hands.

    • 4

Rip the newspaper into long strips.

    • 5

Construct the helmet's skeleton with cardboard. Dip a few strips into the water and flour mixture. Make sure you submerge them. Wrap the strips around the skeleton. Continue to dip and connect strips of newspaper until the helmet's structure is completely covered in paper mache.

    • 6

Use cardboard to build the skeleton of helmet's visor and bottom edges. Cover the skeleton in paper mache.

    • 7

Leave the helmet to dry. This may take a few hours.

    • 8

Paint the helmet dark green with acrylic paint. You may have to paint the entire helmet twice so the newsprint does not show through.

    • 9

      Allow the helmet to dry.
