Choose five sheets of construction paper. Make them bright colors and preferably different colors. Designate one piece of paper to be the head and one to be the end. Get some glue to attach the pieces of paper and you may also want to have scissors. Most rectangular pieces of construction paper will be square when you cut them in half, so fold the papers in half and cut them. Find a ruler that is long enough to stretch from corner to corner diagonally.
On the head piece you want to make sure everything looks good, so you have to find the center of the head. Use the ruler to draw two lines from corner to corner diagonally. Where the two lines meet is where you will probably want to put your worm's nose. Take the other half of the piece of paper designated to be the head and make a nose. You can make it two dimensional or three dimensional depending on your child's artistic ability. The same goes for a mouth and eyes.
Roll the rest of the pieces of paper up into tubes. Make sure to keep the tubes close to one another in size so it makes it easy to attach them to one another. That is to say, if you fold one tube an inch overlapping its opposite end, it would be a good idea to do so for the rest of the tubes. Apply the glue to the overlapped parts and let them dry. Following that, glue the tubes end to end with each other, allowing one tube on each end to be open to add the head and the end.
Glue the end onto one of the open ends of tubes. This symbolizes the end of the worm. It doesn't need to be fancy, but if you want it to be, go for it. Use the other half of the paper designated as the tail to make its feet, if you want the worm to have feet. It is suggested to put two feet on each piece of tube.
Glue the head onto the other open end of the paper tubes. Be careful not to knock the facial features off your worm. Let it all dry.
After the glue is dry, you are technically done. However, if you want to add more intricacies, don't be afraid to take a light paint brush to the worm and add crazy, colorful markings.
