How to Make Bracelets With Jeweler Wax

The lost wax technique is a jewelry-making method first used by ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman societies, and is still used by large companies today. Using jewelry wax makes designing your bracelets, rings and earrings easier because carving wax and molding it is more accurate and less time consuming than working with the metal directly for designing. Using a few simple ingredients, you can follow the lost wax technique to create bracelets for private use or wholesale.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the bracelet jewelry wax blank in half.

    • 2

Glue both halves together to form a circular bracelet mold using super glue.

    • 3

Use your knife to carve designs into the wax.

    • 4

Pour the liquid rubber 1-inch deep into a plastic container and place the wax mold inside. Poor liquid rubber until the wax mold is fully covered. Allow the rubber to dry completely.

    • 5

Cut the rubber mold in half. This will create the "negative" of the bracelet in case the first bracelet becomes ruined or you want to recreate the bracelet again.

    • 6

Pour liquid wax into the rubber mold halves and place them together until the wax dries. Remove the wax mold from the rubber mold.

    • 7

Plaster the wax mold and heat it to about 500 degrees Fahrenheit for five minutes to 10 minutes. Make a hole in the mold for the melted wax to drain away, leaving a hollow plaster mold.

    • 8

Plug up the hole in and pour liquid metal or plastic of your choice into the plaster mold to create the bracelet. Once fully cooled, the plaster will crack, revealing the finished bracelet.
