Cool & Easy Crafts

There are many cool and easy crafts that kids, teens and adults alike can make. The following are crafts that can be enjoyed on rainy days or when you're feeling artistic and creative. You'll be sure to have a good time creating your own original works of art that can be shared with family and friends.
  1. Friendship Bracelets

    • To make friendship bracelets you'll need different colors of yarn and tape. Begin by cutting at least 18 inches of yarn for your bracelet. You can choose however many colors you like and how many strings of yarn to use, depending on how thick or thin you want the bracelet to be. Make a knot at the top of the yarn and use tape to stick it to a stable surface, such as a table. Start braiding the yarn to at least 7 or 8 inches, then tie a knot at the end of the braid. You now have a friendship bracelet to give to a friend or to keep for yourself to wear.

    Tie Dye Shirt

    • Materials needed for a tie dye shirt are a cotton t-shirt, rubber bands, a bucket and fabric dye. Wrap the shirt or bandanna with rubber bands in any pattern that you wish. The dye is usually poured into a bucket of warm water, then the shirt is dipped into the dye for about 15 to 20 minutes; however, make sure you read the directions for the dye you use. You can achieve different colors by having several buckets with different colored dye and dipping different sections of your shirt into the dye. Once you have everything covered, wring out the excess water, run the shirt under cold water, remove the rubber bands and let the shirt hang to dry.

    Embellished Flip Flops

    • Brand new or used flip flops can be used for this project. You can decorate your flip flops with glue-on rhinestones and crystals, and even puff or glitter paint. Use a damp washcloth to clean the straps of your flip flops to make sure they are free of dust and dirt. Once your flip flops are dry, use a hot glue gun (with adult supervision) or craft glue to stick the rhinestones and crystals on the straps. You can also use self-stick ones if available, or choose to decorate the straps with puff and glitter paint. Make sure to wait a few hours for the glue to dry before wearing your flip flops so the embellishments don't fall off.
