Instructions

    • 1

Start with a perfectly square piece of paper. If you have a rectangle piece of paper, then fold the paper in half to make a triangle. Make sure the fold is a diagonal and not straight across making another rectangle. If you folded the paper as a triangle, a thin remainder of paper should stick out beyond the fold. Cut this remainder off, and you have a perfect square.

    • 2

Fold in the four corners of the square. If you fold in all the corners properly, they should meet together in the center. The final result should look like a diamond or an even smaller square.

    • 3

Turn the square over and fold again. The flaps you just folded in should now be on the bottom. Just as you did on the other side, pull the corners of the square into the center and fold them in.

    • 4

Turn the square over again. You should see four little squares that look like pockets. Put four fingers in these pockets and gently move your fingers inward. The fortune teller should take shape and be three-dimensional. The outside four squares are initial options for someone to pick, then the inner flaps should also be labeled to pick. Finally, the fortune is revealed under the inner flaps.

    • 5

Now, gently unravel the paper fortune teller. On the outside squares, write four colors or numbers on the outside. Anything else that would not give away the inside fortune is also okay to label with. On the outside of the inner flaps, write another variation of random numbers, colors, etc. Finally, on the inside of the inner flaps, write creative fortunes.
