With classes in pottery, cartooning, drawing and painting, photography, and portrait drawing, teens may develop their skills and expand their portfolios at the Young Artists Program. Professional artists teach the 10-week classes. Enrollment is limited to allow for individual attention for each student. At the end of each year, the students' work is showcased in the Ernest Rubenstein Gallery, with an opening reception for students' families and friends. The classes, which cost $200 for 10 weeks, take place evenings and weekends.

Students interested in photography and filmmaking may want to enroll in one of the School of Cinema and Performing Arts summer camp programs. During the two and three week photography programs, teens may choose between 35mm and digital photography, focusing on studio and portrait photography, photojournalism, documentary, fine art photography and computer program photo tools. Students in the filmmaking camps learn to write, direct and edit. Tuition for the two and three week camps ranges from $1,600 to about $3,000. Room and board, if necessary, is extra.

Teens may explore the world of art in many ways at free Museum of Modern Art teen programs, including art workshops, visiting an artist's studio and Friday night films. Students may learn about art conservation and discover an appreciation for modern and contemporary art. The summer In the Making classes expose teens to architecture, design, film and video, printmaking and mixed media, through observation, writing, discussion and creating. Teens may submit original artwork for the teen-curated exhibit, and students interested in museum work may try it first-hand during the museum studies program. Additionally, high school students may apply for the summer internship program.
