Temporary Tattoo Instructions

A temporary tattoo can achieve all the results of a permanent tattoo, except you'll be able to easily rid yourself of it should you decide you don't like it or grow tired of it. With a permanent tattoo, you'll be forced to consider an expensive and painful laser procedure. Applying temporary tattoos is not hard, but there are certain things that need to be done to ensure that the tattoo is attractive.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide where you want to apply the temporary tattoo. An area of the skin that is not usually rubbed by articles of clothing, and that does not stretch, bend or twist very much is ideal. Choosing the right body part can help ensure that your temporary tattoo lasts longer.

    • 2

Shave the area, if it has hair. Applying a temporary tattoo over hair, even a little bit, is not a good idea. Clean the area with water and mild soap and then dry it completely.

    • 3

Cut out the tattoo if necessary. The extra space around the design should be trimmed off. Peel the plastic cover from the temporary tattoo to prepare it for application.

    • 4

Apply the temporary tattoo. For best results, ask a friend to help you apply it. You'll get better results if you stay completely still during the application.

    • 5

Wet the backing completely with a damp cloth. Hold the cloth against the tattoo backing and your skin for about a minute, unless the instructions specify a different amount of time.

    • 6

Slowly peel off the backing to expose your new tattoo. To remove the tattoo, rub it gently with a rag and baby oil.
