Topics like portraiture and lighting, close-up and detachable camera flash are discussed in his intermediate classes. Stromberg's also has a one-day boot camp for eager students, wedding photography training and a free class called Basic Camera.

Digital photography is the focal point of study at Chicago Photography Academy (CPA). The academy offers beginner, intermediate and advanced classes in digital photography in one-day, two-day and four-week sessions. No lab fees or extra material requirements makes CPA more more economically feasible than some of the smaller centers. CPA provides computer classes that relate to photography like Adobe Lightroom A-Z. Specialty workshops that focus on a specific genre of photography are also available at CPA.

Chicago Photo Center (CPC) provides free basic workshops for those interested in photography, but who may not be sure where to start. CPC also has three levels of classes: basic, intermediate and advanced. Some of CPC's advanced classes include History of Photography, Street Photography and Photojournalism. You do not have to be a college student to register for a class at Columbia. Some of the topics covered include: architectural photography, documentary photography, photography in S.
