Pre-wash and dry your T-shirts and sweatshirts prior to beginning the iron-on process.
Use your own clip art images, uploaded pictures or other images of your choice for the design. The Avery brand iron-on paper includes images on its website for use in design.
Print the image. Before pressing "print," load the iron-on transfer paper into your computer and then select the "mirror image" setting on your printer settings box.
Cut out the design. The Avery website suggests cutting out the design with a narrow margin around the image or words.
Iron design on to your T-shirt or sweatshirt using the highest heat setting for cotton and no steam. Apply plenty of pressure while ironing.
Cool your shirt by hanging it up and then removing the iron-on transfer backing slowly and carefully. If the image begins lifting off the shirt, re-iron using more pressure.
Wash and dry your shirt after applying design prior to wearing it.
